| The big directories such as Yahoo! and ODP offers a great source of traffic. Therefore proper submission to this type of large directory is crucially important, especially when you consider that the ODP directory is now indexed by many of the search engines including AskJeeves, AOLSearch, Google, and Lycos. |

| An important factor to consider before submitting to any of the directories is to read their submission guidelines. For many of the directories you must follow their steps in the submissions process to the letter or your entry will be rejected. Because directories use people, you are dependant on these editors to put in a description of your website that will cover the keyword phrases that you need. Therefore, before submitting your site to a directory think carefully about the description that you enter. A well worded meta description tag with keyword rich phrases would be suitable. |

| • Zeal | the Zeal community is made up of enthusiasts and editors that administrate the Zeal directory. You can join this community by taking the zealot quiz, which then allows you to add non commercial sites or non commercial pages of commercial sites. |
